Slippery Surfaces Assessment
|
Although there are no new regulations coming into force regarding slippery surfaces, as part of the HSE's push to reduce the large number of Slip Trip and Falls injuries in industry it will be one of the areas concentrated on by the HSE during their inspections. In order to satisfy the inspectors a assessment of the potential slip hazards in your premises should be carried out, especially if those areas are open to public access. Where the assessment indicates that there is a slip potential the coefficient of friction of the surface should be measured. Several different methods of measurement are available and although the HSE does not recommend one type over another, AB Consultants uses the same equipment used by the HSE ensuring commonality of values and results.
